Small Business Rebates, Grants and Support Still Available

There are still many rebates, grants and support available to small business.  Please keep watch of the Business Victoria and your local government websites to keep abreast of what is on offer.  Below are just a few such items which may be of interest to you.

Solar Rebates for Small Businesses Announced

Would you like to save up to 50 per cent on the cost of a rooftop solar system for your small business?

Solar Victoria’s Solar for Business Program will offer a rebate of up to $3,500 to eligible businesses from May 2021. This is the first time 15,000 solar rebates will be available for small businesses, joining more than half a million Victorian households saving hundreds a year off their power bills.


Technology Adoption and Innovation Program Open for Applications

Victorian small and medium enterprises can receive funding to adopt or develop new innovative and commercial technology through the Technology Adoption and Innovation Program. Grants of up to $50,000 are available for two different streams.

  • Stream one targets SMEs looking to implement new digital and innovative technologies.
  • Stream two targets’ SMEs looking to implement defined projects to develop commercial technology or digital products.

Small Business Digital Adaptation Program

Eight new providers have joined the Small Business Digital Adaptation Program, including Australian Good Food Guide, Ecwid, QuickBooks, Lawpath, Reckon, Servicem8, Trade Trak and Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce.

More than 6,250 Victorian businesses have now signed up for the program that helps eligible micro and small businesses to trial and receive access to digital products, tools and training to build digital capability.


Waste Minimisation and Innovation Grants 2021

City of Melbourne has a total of $175,000 in funding available through circular economy innovation grants open to local small businesses, small social enterprise, startups and small to medium-sized food businesses.

Grants of up to $5,000 are available for the reduction of waste production and food waste creation, and to keep food waste from going to landfill.

Applications close on Tuesday 9 April.


Small Business Energy Saver Program for Small Businesses

Small Business Energy Saver Program Opening Soon

The Small Business Energy Saver Program provides a bonus for small businesses, discounting the cost to upgrade to more energy-efficient equipment.
The program assists small businesses to implement upgrades that will lower their operational costs.


The program provides a bonus for your business to upgrade equipment at your business premises. The bonus amount depends on the equipment you upgrade.

Eligible upgrades include:

  • Hot water upgrades
  • Space heating and cooling upgrades
  • Water-efficient pre-rinse spray valves
  • Refrigerators and upright freezers
  • Refrigerated display cabinets
  • Fan motors in refrigeration systems
  • High energy efficient listed motors

Eligible energy-efficient upgrades must be installed by accredited providers, who use the bonus to reduce the cost of equipment. Accredited providers will identify equipment in your business that is eligible to receive the bonus.


Partners in Wellbeing Helpline

The Partners in Wellbeing helpline offers free, confidential one-on-one coaching to support you and your employees.

As part of the Victorian Government’s $26 million Wellbeing and Mental Health Support for Victorian Small Businesses initiative, the helpline gives you access to experienced wellbeing coaches.

The coaches can help you improve your emotional wellbeing and develop coping strategies to support you through this difficult time.

The service also provides free financial counselling and business advice for business owners experiencing financial stress.

Qualified financial counsellors can give you advice, support and information about managing business and personal debts and other financial issues. They can help you to:

  • understand the financial viability of your business
  • access grants and support from government and industry, such as banks
  • manage personal debt
  • understand options and priorities relating to debt
  • negotiate with insurers, lenders and creditors, including dispute resolution and repayments plans
  • learn about insolvency
  • connect with experts, including for accountancy, legal, insolvency, taxation and ombudsman matters.

Business advisors also can support you to plan for the future, developing clear plans and actions to address challenges and opportunities in your business.

They can assist you in areas such as:

  • marketing and sales
  • digital business
  • human resources
  • financial management
  • business strategy
  • efficiency
  • risk management
  • business expansion
  • business closure.
